| A business development professional is required to support the enhancement of tourism product and existing marketing materials for an organisation in Sri Lanka. The successful volunteer will also assist the organisation in developing a 3 Year business development plan. Organisation Background This organisation was established in 2002 by a group of environmentalists. They initially collaborated with the Eden Project in the UK to develop its first external training centre. The organisation has grown and now supports seven plant nurseries, works in over 20 communities and schools and has restored many acres of land and planted nearly 130,000 trees. The organisation’s main aim is to actively demonstrate sustainable principles and promote biodiversity conservation within the local community. It does this through environmental education and other extension activities. Duties and Responsibilities • Assess current status of on-going ecotourism activity (Marketing, administration) • Identify a potential client list in the tourism sector • Initiate product development actions- new routes, enhanced customer service • Enhance marketing and visibility • Complete a 3 year development plan for the business • Provide appropriate support to organization based on existing skills • Coordinate with members of the tourism sector in Sri Lanka • All above actions will be required to be carried out in partnership with local counterpart. Skills and Experience Required • Business planning • Tourism based marketing knowledge • Management or supervisory experience • Experience in advertising would be a benefit Please note that this is a voluntary position.
