| BG1036 Our Bath based client is looking to appoint an experienced Spacecraft Operations Manager. The Job The Spacecraft Management Authority is responsible for the effective management of the spacecraft constellation, and all the technical work and facilities that underpin that role. Responsible for Management of spacecraft assets to safeguard operational capability of the spacecraft fleet, maximising operational lifetimes. Through effective leadership, ensuring that spacecraft operations and their support functions are carried out efficiently and successfully Primary Duties • Being duty on call SMA with return to work within 4 hours - on avg 1 week in 3 • Review, develop and implement spacecraft commanding policy. • Convene and chair the Anomaly Investigation Committee (AIC) to investigate and report on every occurrence of a spacecraft anomaly. • Define training and operating standards for spacecraft operations personnel and chair categorisation boards for the spacecraft operators at spacecraft operating locations. • Define the support required for the continued health and safety of the spacecraft constellation and assist with activities required to provide this support. • Representing the Directorate at IPT, Working Groups and other senior management meetings, as required. o Note: this will involve travelling to other locations, both in UK and abroad. o Contributing towards the delivery of the Space Directorate Mission o Leading inter-department working groups and other forums o All staff are to comply with applicable Health and Safety, Fire, Human Resources and Security policies. Essential Skills Manager with proven track record in spacecraft operations or spacecraft engineering • Excellent written and verbal communications skills • Excellent analytical skills with an eye for detail • Ability to communicate at all levels • Relevant qualifications (academic, nationality) • Decision making and leadership skills • At least SC security clearance • Ability to assimilate very detailed technical information and formulate accurate and effective action plans • Experience of spacecraft operations such as might have been gained over at least six years in relevant positions, or from two different related perspectives • Driving licence • Experience with dealing with the MOD • Experience in dealing with customers, suppliers and subcontractors • Understanding of SCOF ground system • Some knowledge of French could be an advantage Salary A competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience is on offer. |
